Who we are at DCOMT…
Joe and Yanik met at an AMTA conference more than 15 years ago. Joe needed a quick photo and saw Yanik with a camera around his neck and asked him to shoot the photo for him. Since then, their professional and personal relationships have grown. Joe worked with Yanik on most of his books and many of his published articles as well as all of his DVDs. Yanik also built Joe’s newest version of his Website and are now working closely together to make DCOMT the best online educational service for massage and manual therapists.
Joseph E. Muscolino DC
- Joe Muscolino has a bachelor’s in Biology from SUNY Binghamton (1981) and a Doctor of Chiropractic from the University of Western States (1985).
- Joe has been a manual and movement therapy educator for more than 30 years.
- He taught at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy for 24 years and for 5 years at Purchase College, State University of New York (SUNY).
- He is the author of eight major publications with Elsevier, including
- The Muscle and Bone Palpation Manual, with Trigger Points, Referral Patterns, and Stretching, 2nd ed.
- Kinesiology: The Skeletal System and Muscle Function, 3rd ed.
- The Muscular System Manual: The Skeletal Muscles of the Human Body, 4th ed.
- He is also the author of
- Manual Therapy for the Low Back and Pelvis: A Clinical Orthopedic Approach
- Advanced Treatment Techniques for the Manual Therapist: Neck
- His books have been translated into 10 foreign languages.
- He has also authored more than 70 articles, written for manual and movement therapists.
- He runs numerous continuing education hands-on workshops, including the Clinical Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) Certification, around the US and internationally for manual and movement therapists, instructors, and trainers.
- He has created 13 DVDs that cover Clinical Orthopedic Manual Therapy content.
- And he has a digital video streaming subscription service called Digital COMT for manual and movement therapists, instructors, physicians, and trainers.
- He has a soft tissue-oriented chiropractic practice in Stamford, CT. Dr. Muscolino has been treating patients in private practice since 1985.

Yanik Chauvin M.A.
- Yanik has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, a Masters degree in Sports Management, and was a Certified Massage Therapist in the province of Quebec.
- He has 12 years teaching experience including being a guest lecturer in London, England at the University of North London.
- He was the director of one of the campuses of Kineconcept, the leading massage therapy school in Quebec.
- He created and taught massage related courses, including “How to Manage a Massage Therapy Business” and “Ethics and Massage.”
- In 2006, his passion for photography and filmmaking turned him into a full time visual expert shooting for international publishing houses such as, Elsevier, Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins, Cengage Learning, and Weiley Publishing.
- He shot and edited all of Dr. Muscolino’s DVDs and almost all of the photos for his books.
- He has 8 years experience designing beautiful and practical Websites and is the creator of the LearnMuscles.com website.
