The hamstring group is stretched by flexing the hip joint with the knee joint fully extended.
The hamstring group is composed of the:
- semitendinosus
- semimembranosus
- biceps femoris (long and short heads)
Note: The spine can stay extended. The stretch is achieved by further increasing anterior tilt of the pelvis at the hip joint (anterior tilt of the pelvis at the hip joint is the reverse closed-chain action of flexion of the thigh at the hip joint).
