Adductor Longus

The Adductor Longus is a member of the Adductor Group, which is composed of (from lateral to medial) the:

• Pectineus
• Adductor longus
• Gracilis (aka Adductor gracilis)
• Adductor brevis
• Adductor magnus

ATTACHMENTS:

• The adductor longus attaches from the pubic bone to the middle 1/3 of the (medial lip of the) linea aspera of the femur

ACTIONS:

• Adducts the thigh at the hip joint.
• Flexes the thigh at the hip joint.
• Medially rotates the thigh at the hip joint.
• Anteriorly tilts the pelvis at the hip joint.
• Ipsilaterally elevates the pelvis at the hip joint.
• Ipsilaterally rotates the pelvis at the hip joint.

NOTE: The adductor longus has a very prominent and easily palpable proximal tendon in the proximal anteromedial thigh (groin).
