There are four muscles in the Anterior Abdominal Wall:
- Rectus abdominis
- External abdominal oblique
- Internal abdominal oblique
- Transversus abdominis
ACTIONS:
- Flex the trunk at the spinal joints.
- Laterally flex the trunk at the spinal joints.
- Contralaterally rotate the trunk at the spinal joints.
- Ipsilaterally rotate the trunk at the spinal joints.
- Posteriorly tilt the pelvis at the lumbosacral joint.
- Compress the abdominal contents.
