The extensor pollicis brevis is stretched with flexion of the thumb at the carpometacarpal and metacarpophalangeal joints, and radial deviation of the hand at the wrist joint.
Notes:
- The extensor pollicis brevis is involved with deQuervain’s Syndrome.
- This stretching protocol might also stretch the extensor pollicis longus.
- The extensor pollicis brevis is one of four muscles in the deep distal posterior forearm.
The muscles of the deep distal posterior forearm are the:
- abductor pollicis longus
- extensor pollicis brevis
- extensor pollicis longus
- extensor indicis
