    The extensor pollicis longus is stretched with flexion of the thumb at the carpometacarpal, metacarpophalangeal, and interphalangeal joints, and radial deviation of the hand at the wrist joint.

     

    Notes:

    • This stretching protocol will also stretch the extensor pollicis brevis.
    • Flexion of the hand at the wrist joint will increase the efficacy of this stretch.
    • The extensor pollicis longus is one of four muscles in the deep distal posterior forearm.
