    The piriformis (of the deep lateral rotator group) is stretched by laterally rotating the flexed thigh. The opposite-side thigh is used to assist in the stretch.

     

    The deep lateral rotator group is composed of the:

     

    Note: This stretching protocol is contraindicated if the client’s knee joint is unhealthy because it introduces a torque (rotational) force into it.
