    • The scapula is one of the two bones of the shoulder girdle (the clavicle being the other).
    • The scapula articulates
      • the humerus distally, forming the shoulder (glenohumeral) joint.
      • the thoracic rib cage wall proximally, forming the scapulocostal (scapulothoracic) joint.

     

    NOTES:

    1. The word coracoid comes from Greek for raven (korax) and resembling (oid) because it resembles a raven’s beak.
    2. Acromion literally means tip of shoulder; Greek: akron means tip; omos means shoulder.
